Dr Pathare is an Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He has graduated with a B. Tech. degree (Agricultural Engg) from Dr. PDKV, Akola (India); M.Eng. (Process & Food Engg) from MPUAT, Udaipur (India). In 2010, he was awarded a PhD (Process & Chemical Engineering) from the University College Cork (Ireland). Before joining at SQU, he worked as researcher at Newcastle University, UK and Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

He has gained expertise on food engineering & postharvest technology which includes food postharvest losses,  Food agglomeration/granulation, Process optimisation, Food drying and cooling, Structural design for ventilated corrugated packaging; Renewable energy in food processing for Sub-Saharan Africa and Energy efficient production processes in SME food & beverage industry based around Europe.

 
In 2021, he was recognized among World Top 2% influential scholars around the World (among 69,324 food science researchers), published by Stanford University, USA. He is a member of the editorial board for the several research journals: PLoS ONE, Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, Journal of Food Quality, Open Agriculture , AgriEngineering (MDPI), Journal of Food Processing & Preservation, Measurement: Food (Elsevier), Discover Food (Springer) & Current Functional Foods (Bentham Science).
