Abstract
The emergence of satellite images with moderate spatial resolution and wide geographic coverage helped in the estimation of Egypt's entire agricultural land in 2003 and 2012. The country which is situated entirely in the arid region exclusively relies on irrigated agriculture. The enhanced vegetation index (EVI) was the algorithm operated to estimate the vegetated area of the country, which was estimated at 3.3% and 3.7% in 2003 and 2012, respectively. Time series analysis of satellite data revealed the vigor pattern of cultivated lands.
