Abstract

This research aims at evaluating the leaching characteristics of PCS as well as their application in hot asphalt mix concrete. Characterization of PCS indicated the presence of high concentrations of nickel, followed by relatively lower concentrations of chromium, zinc, copper, lead, and vanadium. Results of the TCLP carried out on PCS indicated that concentrations of selected heavy metals are well below the TCLP regulatory limits. Leaching tests performed on asphalt hot mix concrete samples prepared with PCS replacements together with three asphalt contents indicated that TCLP concentrations are well below regulatory limits.
