Abstract

Optical spectra of the complexes, trans-CICoN4C≡CC6H5 trans-CoN4(C≡CC6H5)2 and [-CoN4C≡C-p-C6H4C≡C-]n, (where N4 = 3,9-dimethyl-4,8-diazaundecane-2,10-dione dioxime) show absorptions associated with π-π*transitions of the acetylenic unit and indicate an extended π-electron conjugation through the metal sites on the chain in the polymeric complex.
