Abstract

In this paper the flow generated by two cylinders of unequal radii rotating with different angular velocities is considered. By relating the coefficients of some of the terms in the asymptotic expansion of the streamfunction to the force components and the torque on the combined system, namely the two circular cylinders, together with the imposition of integral constraints, enables the Boundary Element Method to provide a closed system of equations. It is found that excellent agreement is obtained between the numerical results produced in this paper with all the available analytical results.
