Abstract

The relationship between the ratio of exposed formation length to oil-bearing formation thickness and ultimate oil recovery from horizontal wells is discussed. Numerical sensitivity analyzes on reservoir parameters, such as the ratio of exposed formation length to formation thickness at various maximum allowable liquid rates were carried out. Recommendations on the water coning horizontal drilling implementations and ways for reducing water coning effects are outlined and thoroughly discussed for various reservoir thicknesses.
