Natural Resource-based Conflicts Resolution: The Case of Greater Darfur

Abstract

Greater Darfur presently includes the three states of North Darfur, South Darfur and West Darfur, and covers an area of 490369 km2, ranging from desert in the north to high rainfall savanna in the south. It has been the stage of numerous conflicts. This chapter attempts to identify the root causes of these conflicts, and to reflect on the mechanisms developed for their management and resolution.
