Abstract

The primary aim of this chapter was to review the mechanisms of membrane fouling and chemical cleaning methods as they relate to treatment of contaminated water. There is a need is to increase the understanding of membrane fouling phenomena, preventive means and membrane cleaning processes as it applies to the clean-up and desalination of oil contaminated seawater.
