Abstract

The paper gives a brief, critical retrospective view of the experiences made so far at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology (DSSA) and the Development Studies and Research Institute (DSRI) at the University of Khartoum in the field of gender studies and research. It outlines some of the obstacles to gender sensitization and to the efforts of interesting academic staff to introduce gender into the university's curricula.
