Abstract

To assist the policy makers for effectively managing the diffusion process of the EVs technology in Oman, it is important to build a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms behind the diffusion process of such technology. This study endeavors to provide the policy maker with a tool to accelerate the diffusion of EVs in Oman. The AHP model was used to identify the dominant criteria that influence the diffusion of EVs in Oman. Three important criteria were evaluated i) Infrastructure, ii) Zone activity and iii) Social parameter. AHP is widely used as a decision-making tool using pair-wise comparisons concept of different alternatives with respective to various criteria. The flexibility of charging in term of distance between fuel stations of different zones were measured and evaluated. It was found that the zone active density as well as the traveling distance between locations (Zones) are key parameters that should considered for identifying the best location for charging stations to. Having a clear picture of zone activity in Oman is an essential parameter to assist the decision-maker to make an efficient plan and develop the construction of the existing infrastructure to accelerate EVs technology.
