Abstract
This paper presents a quantitative framework and a simulation methodology to evaluate the efficacy of lean metrics in production systems. A procedure for lean metrics efficacy was developed and evaluated its effectiveness in a manufacturing system using a simulation. Lean metrics are embedded into a simulation model so that the simulator is able to calculate automatically lean metrics for the system without any extra effort. The experimental results showed the efficacy of lean matrices in identifying the problems and underlying improvements needed to increase productivity. The proposed matrices are represented in simulation and validated with real-life application.
