Abstract
The incidence of seedborne and aflatoxigenic fungi in seeds of guar was studied. Fifty-nine species and eight varieties of fungi of 24 genera were found. Of these, 52 species and eight varieties are new for guar seeds, while five genera, 25 species and three varieties are new for the mycoflora of The Sudan. The genus Aspergillus (12 species and six varieties) was found at highest rate (45% of the total colony count), followed by Rhizopus and Curvularia (both nine species and one variety). As possible pathogens of guar, Alternaria (leaf spot) and Fusarium species (root rot) were recovered. No aflatoxin was detected on this guar.
