Abstract

For determining the characteristics of undersaturation, gravitational capacity, and overflow through a low-permeability interlayer, problems are solved numerically on free discharge from an initially water-filled borehole due to filtration into a dry homogeneous isotropic stratum, as well as on draining a saturated stratum by an originally dry borehole. The Dyupui-Forkhgejmer model and the Myatiev-Girinskij approximation are used for determining the saturated zone thickness, front dynamics in the case of a dry stratum and the effective front in the case of a saturated stratum, the water level in the borehole and the dried soil volume.
