Abstract
Densities and thermal expansion coefficients of pure methylcyclohexane, 1-methylcyclohexene, 4-methylcyclohexene, 1-methyl-1,4-cyclohexadiene, and toluene were measured by means of a vibrating tube densimeter. A wide range of temperature from 283.15 to 358.15 K was selected for the measurements. The densities and thermal expansion coefficients of binary mixtures of methylcyclohexane and toluene were also measured. Under the conditions of experimentation, positive values of excess molar volumes are observed for the methylcyclohexane-toluene system. Comparing the measured densities of pure components with the densities calculated from the five widely used density equations, the Costald equation is proved to be the most reliable in representing the experimental density data.
