Abstract

The recently proposed scaling theory of a fused hard-sphere mixture is extended to a fluid mixture of monomers and dimers. The contribution from the attractive force is introduced within the Barker-Henderson perturbation theory via the double Yukawa potential with the parameters fitted to the Lennard-Jones potential. The results suggest that the non-spherical shape of the dimer bond and the non-additivity of the potential play a dominant role to induce phase separation or compound formation in the mixture.
