Abstract

Local people’s assessment of forest development organisations in NW Tunisia identifies five key attributes. The most important attribute is a clear management property right. Accordingly, the preferred form of forest development organisation is one with multi-sectorial activities, an internal sanction system, for-profit goal, a natural resources management right, and a Central State disengaged in favour of local communities.
