Abstract

The design for reconfigurable manufacturing enterprise is a systemic approach that simultaneously identifies reconfigurable components. The role of reconfiguring manufacturing enterprise represents the key factors of manufacturing systems to be globalized and sustainable. The problem addressed in this paper is how to present the reconfiguration in manufacturing enterprises based on several issues. These issues are: globalization issues, contingency issues, manufacturing systems design, local performance measurement and flexible management. In this paper, a conceptual framework for the reconfigurability assessment will be presented for each issue individually and totally. This analysis shows that the estimating the reconfigurability index is a very large task and should be taken into consideration for the next period to be globalized and sustainable.
