Abstract
In this work, we attempt to present the history of free software, its types, the most important tools used in libraries and information and documentation centers, and their adoption of Web 2.0 technologies in the services provided to beneficiaries. We also provide examples of the most popular open software in order to attract as many users as possible who are still hesitant about using these tools, taking into account the economic and cultural aspects of their use.
