Description
Septic arthritis in adults can be challenging to diagnose. Prompt differentiation of a bacterial etiology is crucial to minimize morbidity and mortality. In this study, based on our previous work with Raman Spectroscopy, we propose this new optical vibrational technology to aid in differentiating synovial fluids samples of septic arthritis from aseptic ones, and distinguish between the most common pathogen causing septic arthritis. This reduces patient suffering by rapid disease diagnosis, initiation of required treatment and reduce the periods of hospital stay. Moreover, it will reduce the financial burden on healthcare institution.
