THERMO-CONVECTION IN A BIDISPERSE POROUS MEDIUM

Project: Internal Grants (IG)

Project Details

Description

Thermo-convection in porous media has diverse applications in various fields of science and engineering especially for geothermal operations, crude oil production and petroleum refinery, thermal insulation, chemical catalytic reactors, pollutant dispersion in aquifers etc. It is very important to consider the multiple porosity scales for the fluid flow and heat transfer when there appear cracks or fishers on the porous matrix. In this project, we plan to investigate the thermo-convection phenomenon in a porous medium having cracks (or fishers) on the porous matrix considering numerous flow and thermal conditions. The mathematical model constituting the physical problem will be simulated numerically and the obtained results will be interpreted from physical and engineering viewpoints. The successful completion of the project is expected to produce interesting results and could provide novel applications in real life problems. Strengthen of ongoing collaborations with leading institutions around the globe and publishing research findings in international journals and in renowned conferences will enhance SQU?s standing and ranking in research worldwide.
