Synthesis and Structures Characterization of Nano Ferrite Materials

Project: Internal Grants (IG)

Project Details

Description

Due to their applications in advanced materials and medicine spinel ferrites of nanoparticles size will be prepared and investigated in this project. Compositions of polycrystalline mixed soft ferrites with the general formula TMFe2O4, TMFeREO4 and TiFeO4 (where TM=transition metal = Zn-, Ni-, Co-, Cd-, Mn-, 0 ? x ? 1 and RE=Rare Earth metals), will be prepared using different techniques such as the standard mechanical milling and the sol-gel chemical methods. The structural properties of these ferrites will be investigated using different techniques such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared absorption spectroscopy (FTIR), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrical and magnetic properties will be investigated using the electrical resistance, magnetization and Mossbauer techniques. The structural and electrical properties will also be investigated theoretically and they will be compared with those measured experimentally. The thermal properties will be investigated using the thermal gravimeter analyzer (TGA) and differential scanning calorilemeter (DSC) techniques.
