Successful Implementation of eSCM: Investigating antecedents and consequences of the Climate for implementation of an innovation

Project: Internal Grants (IG)

Project Details

Description

Organizational climate theory has been successfully applied to explain and improve performance across diverse disciplines such as innovation, service, and safety in organizations. However, its application within technology implementation literature has been limited to compliance use. This project investigates the role of organizational climate in the successful implementation of electronic supply chain management systems (eSCM). Organizational climate refers to the shared perceptions of employees about their work environment, policies, and interactions. It has been shown to have a significant impact on employee attitudes, behaviors, and performance. A positive climate can foster employee motivation, engagement, and commitment, which are essential for successful technology implementation. This project will develop a conceptual model of the climate for implementation of eSCM, its antecedents, and its consequences. The model will be tested using an empirical study of organizations using eSCM. The project is expected to make several contributions to the literature and practice. First, it will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the climate for implementation of innovation, particularly in the context of eSCM. Second, it will identify the key antecedents and consequences of this climate. Third, it will develop guidelines for managers on how to create a climate that is conducive to successful eSCM implementation.
