Pharmacogenetic determinates of the Response to Risperidone Among Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Project: Internal Grants (IG)

Project Details

Description

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) represents a heterogeneous group of neurodevelopmental disorders with a wide range of symptom severity. Risperidone has shown efficacy in managing specific behavioural challenges in some individuals with ASD. However, the response to risperidone varies extensively among patients, suggesting a substantial genetic component influencing treatment outcomes. The impact of pharmacogenetics on treatment response and risk of adverse drug reactions in ASD treated with risperidone has not been well investigated. Therefore, this research project aims to identify and characterise the genetic determinants contributing to the variability in response to risperidone.
