Nexus between Energy, Environment and Economic Growth: A Panel Data Analysis for GCC countries

Project: Internal Grants (IG)

Project Details

Description

This study empirically investigates the nexus between energy, environment and economic growth for GCC countries. A dynamic panel data analysis will be carried out for this purpose. Examining the casual relationship between energy and economic growth has been a well-researched area since 1970s in both developed and developing countries. There are several independent international surveys in this respect. However, there is no systematic literature review which can tell us about quantitative dimensions of such important area of research. This study will also systematically review existing literature on energy, environment and growth nexus. Three analyses will be carried out in this respect, namely: citation analysis; keyword analysis; and content analysis. This will help researchers to identify a set of challenges posed on energy, environment and economy nexus analysis. Theoretical and empirical trends will be analyzed to discuss potential future research directions.
