Description

Health care job is known to be related with high exposure to professional and personal stress. Physical and mental health of individuals working in direct patient care in hospitals is related to the quality of work and patient outcome. Multiple research shows that nurses and doctors who work round the clock are part of a vulnerable group that are associated with occupational illness as well as job burnout. The high work related stress workout mainly manifests in form of diminished emotional and behavioral accomplishments. Lower level of civility can be one of the emotional responses exhibited by health care workers, which can have detrimental impact on work culture and work atmosphere. Current study aims to identify the existing stress and workplace civility among health care professionals and its relationship to psychological empowerment and resilience. A cross-sectional descriptive study will be conducted among healthcare workers at acute care settings in selected tertiary care hospitals, using standardized tools to assess their job stress, and workplace civility as well as personal psychological empowerment, resilience and coping among health care workers towards such stress. The findings of this study will help us to have a dashboard of information on work related stress and resilience. It will help the administrators and policy makers to identify strategies to address occupational stress among health care workers and to prevent burnout and improve work culture among health care professionals.
