Description

Research suggests that nursing education has a positive effect on students attitudes towards research and for utilization of EBP in the future, however, an extensive review of related literature identified that this topic remains fairly studied among student nurse populations. At present, no studies were identified comparing student nurses knowledge, attitudes, skills, and intentions to use EBP in a cross-country study design. For this study, the researchers were interested in identifying nursing students knowledge, attitudes, skills, and intentions to use EBP in the future, and to identify the predictors of the student nurses knowledge, attitudes, skills, and future use of EBP from five countries: United States (US), Oman, India, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia. This study will employ a descriptive, cross sectional, comparative research design. Research data will be collected using self report questionnaires from convenience samples of student nurses in each of the five countries during the months of _______ to ______ (Tentative date). Two instruments will be used in this study: EBP tool and Barriers Scale. Data will be analyzed with using SPSS version 16 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, means, percentages and standard deviations will be utilized. Inferential statistics such as multiple regression analysis will be used to determine correlations between relevant variables. The predictive ability of selected variables will be examined by regressing participants profile on the KAB Questionnaire for EBP utilizing a regression analysis. The level of significance accepted will be p andlt; 0.05.
