Determination of the immune mediators in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD); toward exploring a novel strategy in AD treatment.

Project: Internal Grants (IG)

Project Details

Description

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory skin disease characterized by pruritic erythematous lesions. The colonization of Staphylococcus aureus is commonly associated with flares in AD. The pathogenesis of AD implicates complex immune responses, involving many cytokines, chemokines, and expression of specific cellular markers in the skin. This study aims to assess the immune modulators in the skin of AD patients attending the dermatology clinic at SQUH. While the current treatment offers symptomatic relief. There is a need for novel therapeutic strategies that target the underlying immune mechanisms driving AD.
