Clinical Cloud System for Healthcare in Oman

Project: Internal Grants (IG)

Project Details

Description

The aim of this research project is to study, design and implement an exclusive medical cyber-physical cloud system (MCPSs-Cloud or MCPCS). They are life-critical, context aware, and networked medical devices systems, which are used in hospitals to provide high-quality continuous care for patients. Considering that many diseases are easily misdiagnosed and some advice of therapy are inadequate, which can bring unnecessary risks to patients and increase the medical costs, we introduce cloud computing to integrate multiple MCPS of hospitals to construct MCPCS. In this real-time cloud system, we provide a real-time tracking and management of medical equipment, staff and patients within all types of patient care environments, such as, Internet of Hospital Things (IoHT), Patient Identity Biometrics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) healthcare advisors, IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance to management of healthcare organization. The system will be design-optimized for implementation within standard technologies. We will try to overcome the variety of trade-offs inherent in such systems whilst taking into consideration design constraints such as economical, societal, environmental, political, and manufacturability. The project will initiate a new axis of research in order to develop expertise of SQU in this new technology and hence keep it abreast of advances in applied science and technology.
