After the hydrocarbon sector, marine fisheries are one of the most significant sectors for Oman economy. Considering socio-economic development in Oman, fish plays an important role. Bio-economic analysis of the most economically important marine fisheries reveals the optimal economic and ecological fisheries management decisions and potential overfishing remedies. This project seeks to inform fishery managers about their optimal fisheries management practices in order to manage this important renewable resources for its long run sustainability. To achieve that, the project aims to estimate the economical, biological, and optimal yield of the most economically important marine fisheries and to develop the management options for the sustainable management of the fisheries resources. This study is the first attempt to investigate optimal economic and ecological fisheries management decisions in Oman, thus, contributing toward fisheries development in the long term. The outcomes of this project will also uncover potential overfishing remedies that could mitigate the overfishing threats and damages to the marine environment. Therefore, findings of this project are important for decision makers especially fisheries agencies and private sector.
