Description

This research is focusing on studying an important period in the Omani cultural history which is Early Bronze Age (3500-2000 BC.) rpresented by Umm an-Nar Culture that covere the time period (2500-2000 B.C.). This period will be investigated by two approaches: First by conducting field work, where the archaeological site of Al-Tikha in Wilayet Al-Rustaq will be excavated and documented completely. During the excavations, different araes will be selected for the excavations in order to uncovere the depth of the cultural layers and the different phases of occupation. The analytical and theoretical part represents the second approach. Here the archaeological data will be analyzed in order to have a better understanding for the settlement system and the cultural development of the settlers in Umm an-Nar period. C14 analysis will be conducted to obtain accurate dates for the different occupational phases at the site.
