Shift Register (SR) is one of the most useful component of digital systems. Associating a feedback with it is termed as Feedback Shift Register (FSR). An FSR with a special feedback is known as Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR). There are huge generic devices in the world that uses SR sequences. Solomon Golomb originates the idea of SR sequences. In the 1950s through the idea, he created and solved countless math and wordplay puzzles. Solomon Golomb (1932–2016), is no more but the content of his work lives on every modern communications systems and devices. If you open specification booklets for 3G, Long-Term Evolution (LTE), 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Global Positioning System (GPS), etc. Pseudo-random numbers, pseudo-noise sequences, fast digital counters, and whitening sequences, Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA), errors detection and correction Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS), Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC), VLSI testing are a few names, which are tagged with the applications of LFSRs. The simple implementations of LFSRs in both hardware and software make it perfect component to integrate with devices and systems. Linear Feedback Shift Register design is useful inside of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Simple but careful synthesis of LFSRs can run at very high clock rates inside of an FPGA. This paper is a continued effort in the direction of investigating the sequence lengths of a special structure of Fibonacci LFSR for applications in FPGAs testing.
