ملخص

The advance of nanomaterials offers a wide range of applications in the food industry. Nanomaterials are used in different applications such as the detection of foodborne pathogens, advanced food packaging, and removal of harmful materials. Nanomaterial has unique physical and chemical properties to enhance sensitivity, selectivity, and rapid detection in various sensing applications. Plasmonic nanostructures have been synthesizing and using optical, electronic, and chemical-based sensors for the detection of target matters. Simple, cost-effective, highly selective, and sensitive portable sensors are the most needed tools to serve our society as a lively environment. This chapter discusses the fundamental properties and the fabrication of plasmonic nanomaterials, their applications, and different types of sensors used in foodborne pathogens.
