The aim of this study was to examine the perspectives of regional teacher supervisors in relation to their emerging new roles and practices in a stage of radical educational reforms in Oman. The research sought to investigate how these supervisors perceived the changes that had occurred to their supervisory roles and practices as a result of the ongoing reforms in the Omani education.
The study took place in the Educational Supervision Directorate in Muscat. Two research methods were conducted. They were, a descriptive survey that was distributed to 125 educational supervisors in the Directorate, followed by twenty-seven semi-structured interviews, as one was with the General Director, one with the Deputy Director for supervision affairs, 24 interviews were with regional supervisors from different subject areas, supervising governmental schools in Muscat, and one interview was with a supervisor supervising private schools.
