ملخص

This study aimed at developing a scale for measuring factors of students’ reluctance to participate in school radio programs. The sample consisted of)121(students representing grades 10 and 11 in one of the schools in South Al-Batinah governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. Results revealed appropriate indicators of validity and reliability for the scale. The factor analysis yielded a 15-item scale consisting of five factors: poor psychological readiness, poor encouragement, fear of criticism, absence of training, and poor self-willingness. Internal consistency reliability coefficients of the five factors ranged between 0.60 and 0.79. Results also showed that low achievers were more reluctant to participate in the school radio programs than high achievers. The study ended with a number of recommendations such as using the scale by supervisors of school radio programs to overcome factors of students’ reluctance to participate in the school radio programs and conducting other studies to verify the applicability of the scale for other samples.
