Abstract
Urban expansion on infrastructure services was studied in the Wilayat of Al Amerat in the Sultanate of Oman, where witnessed an increase in population and urban expansion. This led to an increase in the need for infrastructure and basic services for new residential areas. The study aimed mainly to review the most prominent problems caused by urban expansion accompanying population growth. This study relied on the inductive statistical method, which contributed to the formation of an integrated system. The study was based mainly on the electronic questionnaire. It also relied on fieldwork in addition to the cartographic method. The study came out with a set of results, the most important of which are: The geographical nature of the Wilayat of Al Amerat, represented by the spread of mountainous heights, contributed greatly to determining the direction of urbanization in the state. In addition to the impact of this on the creation of infrastructure services in many areas of the state. The study reached important results and recommendations, including the need to reconsider the standards that are used for planning services and the use of modern planning methods in residential plans, as well as taking into account the climate and the prevailing geographical nature when planning services, in addition to promoting integration between Residents and the competent authorities to identify the required services in each region and the problems they suffer and to deal with their requests and communications.
