ملخص

This study analyzed the reality of teaching the course of
crisis communication in the curricula of mass communication and
public relations programs in Arab universities. The study sample
included (22) academic curricula of mass communication and
public relations from various public and private Arab universities.
The course content analysis methodology was used to
develop a better understanding of the course content, its
objectives, and how it is taught, with a focus on researching the
cognitive and practical skills that are taught to students in this
course.
The study revealed a number of important results, most
notably the development of interest in including this course in the
curricula of most public relations programs in recent years
compared to what the situation was ten years ago, the dominance
of the theoretical side over teaching the course with little interest
in the practical side, and the absence of diversity in teaching
methods Which is still based on the method of theoretical lectures,
and not relying on new teaching methods such as simulations and
role-playing games, in addition to not paying attention to teaching
social media, which is today one of the most new tools employed
by modern institutions in managing crisis communication.
