ملخص
This study aims to examine the syntactic and semantic levels in Tarjumān al-ashwāq of Mohiuddin bin al-'Arabi (d. 638 AH). Those two levels perfectly reflect the choices of the poet and his aesthetic perceptions. This does not mean that the field of work is devoted to the “grammatical aspects” only, but rather focusing on different dimensions which makes us deal with the stylistic level in a new way is it carries Being loaded with the subjectivity and purposes of ibn ‘Arabi. Tarjumān al-ashwāq and the ancient Arabic poetry focus on the aesthetic aspects that distinguishe each poet from the other.
The Diwan has its bright moments where the poet composes flirty poems that show him as a true lover like Majnoun Laila, Jamil Buthaina and Kuthair Azza. He was also known for his humanitarian and tolerant perspectives that make him unique at that time time. Ibn ‘Arabi represents a journey from the difficulty of meaning to the openness of Semantics. He is characterized by a number of fetures such as: Moving the sentence from the level of the rhythm to the level of Semantics, which is based on the escalation of the rhythm level (sound, weight, rhyme) along with the structural level (grammar, lexicons, letters), and the expansion of the sentence (rotation). Within Semantics, there is a difference between the linguistic function in the ordinary discourse and the linguistic function in the poetic discourse. Therefore, this study attempts at discovering new interpretative horizons in Tarjumān al-ashwāq.
