ملخص

The aim of this research is to document the Triliths in the Ja'alan Bani Bu Hassan area located in the Southern Sharqiyah Governorate in The Sultanate of Oman, which were discovered during the project of “Surveying the western part of the province of Ja'alan" conducted by Researcher in the region between 2010 and 2012. The Triliths were found almost a century ago, but they are still one of the most puzzling and challenging archaeological monuments for archeologists working in the southern Arabian Peninsula. Despite repeated documentation and description by a large number of archaeologists working along the region of Yemen down to the southern foothills of the Hajar Mountain in Oman, only little knowledge has been gained about them, which leaves us unaware of some aspects pertaining to the purpose for which and the time they were constructed, or who constructed them. All the explanations provided for these questions are still speculative, not supported by strong archaeological evidence. The research will examine these Triliths, tracking their excavation history, and attempting to provide explanations for their history, function, distribution, diffusion, forms, types and architectural characteristics.
