The Islamic education teachers? embodied level of professional characteristics according to NCATE standard and its relation to the professional competencies of teaching in the Sultanate of Oman

In addition, it aims to design a matrix of Islamic teacher standard to raise teachers performance level of Islamic subject in basic schools in Oman. In accordance of the Eight Fifth Year National Plan (2011-2012) which is built around human resources development. Also, the study aims to raise teaching quality in Islamic subject after the changes of the subject content and number of teaching hours. More specifically, this research aims to: Analyzed the professional characteristics of Islamic education teachers. Create a list of professional competencies for Islamic education teachers in accordance to National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Identify to what extend that Islamic education teachers have the teaching profession competencies. Diagnosed the weakness in the Islamic subject teacher performance in basic education schools in Oman. Design a suggested proposal for an accredited standard matrix for Islamic education teacher preparation in Oman. The study will use the following instruments to collect data: a survey, tool for Islamic teaching performance competencies, and interview guide. Psychometric properties will be evaluated for these tools, as appropriate. A representative random sample of Islamic education teachers and first teachers, educational supervisors will be used. The following demographic factors will be evaluated: gender, educational degree, experience, qualification, and school educational cycle. SPSS program will be used to analyze quantitative data, while NVIVO will be used to analyze qualitative data. Upon analysis, research objectives will be tested, research questions will be answered and suggestions will be presented.
