Description

The field of gifted education in the Sultanate is in need for enrichment programs to develop gifted students' thinking. There is a scarcity in the literature related to either designing or administering enrichment programs and its effect on thinking outcomes of gifted students. The present study aims at exploring the effect of an enrichment program on some variables such as scientific thinking, inquiry skills, motivation towards science, and academic achievement. The study sample will consist of 100 gifted male and female students in cycle 1 and cycle 2 schools in Muscat. The study tools consists of science enrichment units in topics such as electricity, human body, and environment, developed in the US. These units will be adapted to the Omani environment according to science national curriculum, along with some tests that measure intelligence, self-concept, and attitudes toward science and school. The duration of the project is one academic semester (3 months) and will be supervised by science teachers in the selected schools. The study will use the quasi-experimental method which consists of an experimental and a control group with a pre-post test design.
