Description

Omani society has witnessed a process of social change that affected all its structural, functional and normative components. It is a highly variable society, accepting profound transformations. It is the result of a young process of development compared to similar Arab experiences. This is because the Omani development path began in 1970 with the reformist leader Qaboos bin Saeed, may God have mercy on him. Since this date, the Omani society has witnessed a process of continuous transformation that affected its various components, and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God preserve and preserve him, stresses the interest in human development as one of the important elements in the comprehensive development process. Here we see that the involvement of Omani youth in the Oman 2040 plans strengthens their role, invests in their capabilities and encourages them, and they feel that the plans set are from them and for them, which makes them motivated initiators, doing their best. This is what calls for questioning, in principle, about the nature of these changes, their implications, the areas covered by the change, originality and modernity, the actors, and the question of development. Herein lies the role of social sciences in reading society and researching its material, spiritual, intellectual and institutional components, i.e. according to the normative and structural dichotomy. Such a matter will help us draw a clear picture of Omani society after six decades of renaissance. This is because the development process requires a set of values and standards such as discipline, skill, enlargement of work, spirit of innovation, honesty, sincerity, honesty, tolerance, openness, acceptance of difference, cooperation and other criteria that we will reveal in the body of the field research. Accordingly, it was possible to limit these data and others to a central question: What is the impact of the normative and structural transformations in the Omani society on the development process since the renaissance stage until today? This is done by focusing on the concerns of young people in obtaining a job. Such a matter will require us to conduct a field study in which we rely mainly on the quantitative method and distribute a questionnaire to the selected sample of students on the verge of graduation or those who have completed their studies. We support this by reading the content of all documents related to the topic and conducting focus interviews. The study is supposed to come out with a number of recommendations related to directing operational policies and incentives that can be adopted in order to push young people to change their perceptions of some professions that are supposed to be a guarantee for their future and the achievement of their social mobility.
