M-LEARNING IN OMAN : DEVELOPMENT , ADOPTION AND DISSEMINATION

M-learning is a new research area that has become an emerging technology for modern education systems, which can be used to enhance the overall users learning experience. Research on this project focuses mainly on analyzing the influencing factors of adopting and disseminating M-learning in Oman, which includes cultural and social factors, educational factors, security and privacy issues and accessibility concerns. This aims to develop socio-technical didactical framework for adoption and dissemination of M-learning, and analyze the detailed treatment of the critical factors found and their causes and effects. The project attempts to explore the impacts of Oman national issues on M-learning and uses advanced nations experiences as benchmarks for drawing lessons for Oman. The proposed project endeavors to complement an exploratory M-learning case study in Oman to provide in-depth description of basic characteristics of students and other users of M-learning. The research attempts to identify the major barriers for up taking of M-learning in Oman, where it proposes efficient solutions to overcome such barriers. M-learning prototype guided by the results found from the advanced nations experiences and sharpened by the M-learning exploratory case study will be provided to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach. The prototype will consider a set of nonfunctional requirements such as performance, security, privacy and accessibility. In order to achieve the project target objectives, the project methodology is divided into eight work packages background and literature review, advanced nations M-learning experiences, case Study, data analyze, framework, prototype implementation, evaluation and project documentation.
