Description

Nano particles are interesting due to their fascinating properties. Recently a lot of research activities have been focusing on the fundamental aspects and potential applications of Carbon nanoparticles such as an efficient photocatalyst or to use them in light energy conversion and related applications. Carbon nanoparticles show photoluminescence and are very interesting due to its chemical inertness and lower toxicity compared to traditional photoluminescent quantum dots or organic dyes .A deep understanding about the radiative mechanism is required for the device applications. Through this proposal, we aim to utilize various nano scale techniques such as microwave synthesis of carbon particles, SEM/TEM UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy, Photoluminescence measurement, Life time measurements electrical transport etc to understand the fundamental electronic properties of Carbon nano particles and carbon nanoparticle composites. Primary aim is to study energy transfer/ charge transfer properties of carbon nanoparticles- polymer/ nanoparticles dye assemblies.
