Health Awareness among Female Adolescents with ?Intellectual Disability in Oman

The current research examines health awareness among adolescent female ?students with ?intellectual disability in Oman. A mixed method approach will be ?employed for data collection. Participants will be selected from inclusive schools, ?special education schools, and special education centers in Oman. A survey ?questionnaire will be designed to collect data on the health awareness questionnaire ?of adolescent female students with intellectual disabilities. Teachers/care providers ?will be requested to respond to the survey with regard to four dimensions of health ?awareness: healthy nutrition, physical fitness, reproductive health, and technological ?health. Additionally, semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions will be ?conducted with teachers, about the health awareness of adolescent female students ?with intellectual disabilities to gain in depth knowledge and converging evidence of ?their health-related behaviors. Findings and implications will be discussed from a ?contextual perspective and in relation to prior research. ?
