Examining the psychological and physiological well-being of students at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, and its correlation with their free time, exercise, and sedentary behavior.

Certain periods in life, such as the transition from high school to college, can be challenging times for young adults, leading to increased stress and potential psychophysical health problems. Adequate physical activity has been identified as an essential method to reduce stress and improve overall psychophysical health. However, cultural and societal factors play a crucial role in influencing lifestyle choices, including physical activity and inactivity Islam, as a religion, places great emphasis on the importance of maintaining good health as an obligation for all its followers and highlights the significance of exercise and physical activity in Islamic recommendations. Nonetheless, cultural and traditional influences are often considered more significant in determining individual levels of physical activity. Oman, a country with a predominantly Muslim population, may exhibit distinct cultural traditions. The primary objective of this project is to describe the patterns of engagement in physical activity and general health status among students at Sultan Qaboos University. Additionally, the study aims to examine the relationship between physical activity and overall health while comparing these findings with global criteria. This research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and involves the participation of approximately 500 individuals from Sultan Qaboos University who are not in their first semester. Participants will be required to complete validated questionnaires, namely the Beck Physical Activity Questionnaire and the General Health Questionnaire. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test will be employed to determine the normality of the study data, and the Pearson correlation coefficient will be used to address the research questions. All statistical procedures will be conducted using SPSS statistical software version 25, with a significance level of 0.05 taken into consideration for the tests.
