Development of UF and NF membranes

The overall aim of the project is to develop a novel polymer based UF and NF range of membranes to provide an effective pre-treatment process for removal of humic substances and salts from seawater as a pretreatment to brackish water and seawater reverse osmosis (RO) desalination. The broad objective of the present research project is to fabricate and characterize UF and NF membranes at the department of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering in Sultan Qaboos University and to test the suitability of these membranes as a pretreatment to RO desalination.
