Assessing the National Fine Arts Curriculum at Sultanate of Oman in light of the International Standards of Art Education.

Curricula constitute one of the major axes of the educational process through which it is possible to judge the extent of county s development and progress, and they stand for a true facade of a meaningful learning. Curricula cannot develop without periodical revisions, and evaluation constitutes fundamental access to the amelioration and development of curricula. The conception of professional standards and quality in curricula in particular, and in the educational process in general, has become one of the topics that are currently addressed by international conferences, regional symposiums and educational forums owing to their important role in improving and developing the educational process in all education programs. The importance of quality and its standards is being daily confirmed on the ground that they are the access to survival and distinction, and constitute the pivot through which it is possible to judge the level of inputs, processes and outputs of any educational program, or curricula .The standards are regarded as the professional judgment of the art education domain which is concerned with all bits of information and skills that all art educators and pupils should possess with the aim of providing high-quality studies in the art domain for every student. True standards constitute access to the judgment of art curricula and their teaching methods for the purpose of on-going development of the educational process. This research project has come as a true attempt to develop teaching arts in the Sultanate of Oman through a field study, assessing the national curricula of fine arts in connection to international standards. The present research is using the descriptive, analytical research method in order to collect data for assessing art curricula and building new curricula in conformity with international standards. Furthermore, qualitative research methods, such as the groups discussions, content analysis and personal interviews, will be used in order to reach an objective, reliable assessment aimed at improving the arts education in the Sultanate of Oman.
