Abstract

On the basis of exporting 7.5 million tons per annum (mtpa) LNG from South-Pars in southern part of Iran, a two-train LNG plant is designed. The design parameters for the equipments are calculated and reported. Using a simple economical model, the production cost for transporting natural gas as LNG to some potential gas markets in the world is estimated. Evaluations indicated that based on natural gas price between $4.74 × 10-4 and $7.58 × 10-4 MJ-1, the LNG product cost is obtained between $1.89 × 10-3 and $2.84 × 10-3 MJ-1. This suggests that transporting natural gas in the form of LNG is cost effective.
