Water-Plant Nexus: Maximizing the Added-Value and Economic Potential of Omani Plants

Project: Consultancy project

Project Details

Description

This project explores the added value of Omani plants, particularly in Al Sharqiah Governorate. The goal is to serve the community with what they already have and add value to local small and medium enterprises while providing the government with more options for achieving the economic aspects of Oman Vision 2040. We will study the plant’s current uses and also explore the potential applications in future industries. We will start by listing plant chemical constituents and explore their potential value using modern chemical extraction techniques. Our shared goal is to focus on specific indigenous plants for their biodiversity and conservation. These plants will have low to no water and energy requirements, ensuring their increased potential for capturing CO₂, so the ultimate goal of Oman’s NetZero by 2050 is contributed to as well. We present this project as we believe that Oman LNG through this project, will bring forth new ideas for new industries based on local natural resources while conserving these resources and maximizing the socio-economic impact for the local
communities.
